Autumn You 04:00
2.
You caught me while I was sleeping, I was trying to get you first. You asked me why my eyes fell out, At least they didn't burst. With, with this midnight stomp, You've got the pills with the paper tops, This arpeggiator turns it on, This arpeggiator turns it on. They won't find us. You've got twilight between your fingers and the old lady answers slow, She enunciates with her decay, "You've got a lot less time than you know". So you run up the hill towards the lightning. And try to climb every bolt, Inhale the gray all the sky can explain, The rain soaks down and erodes. They won't find us. You caught me while I was sleeping, I was trying to get you first. You asked me why my eyes fell out, At least they didn't burst. With, with this paper stomp, You've got the pills that are Autumn Up. This arpeggiator turns it on, This arpeggiator turns me on. They won't find us.

Iradell 05:01
Iradell sings like a sieve in the pouring rain, Breaking into pieces things she'll put together again, Sunk into the soil, known yet told to pretend. A spoon left next to an hourglass of empty sand. She broke through the ice to become a seamless malcontent, String fell from the sky and she seemed like she welcomed it. Whatever the rainbow meant it was gone by the suns decent. Whenever her fingers moved someone felt it. On this last day she rose like the phoenix did, Her teeth were made of hair and the fire was our sustenance, The hills did collapse and the valley did rise again, The colors were all quiet and the tired were arisen. Iradell

Magic Key 04:01
Magic Key On the back of some scarecrow, You are lighting matches, Oh. All this endless loneliness, Will distill everyone you'll miss To me. Pay attention crystal ball, Watch over me to a fault, For the bathroom tiles break, With this never-ending weight. To be clean. Talk to me through photo slides. Send minor chords in reply, For the nervous pacing steps, are the only real caress, We need. Forgive me my body lied, Out of breath and tongue tied. Someone, turn for me. The magic key. If we die tonight pay attention crystal ball.

Twilight Dusk and Night You are the last true thing that will ever happen in my life. Beautiful and lost, beautifully undefined. We fell apart dreaming, we fell apart tonight. Our hearts tied together our bodies afraid of our minds. We have movement without words I'll trade your whisper for mine. I collect your thoughts and freeze them in time, Exhaling dreams by some trick of the night, I fall apart, put back together at the same time... I never thought that this hope would end, (The way the stars touch your face, curved around the shade and bends). Floating in sliver dusk, glimmering. (The night grips my neck, yet I pray the morning won't begin). My captured heart laying by your side, (Trying to beat strong enough for both of our lives,) To breathe in this twilight, dusk and night. I am transfixed while you wade through our time, Move within memory, Hold and define, All lost flowers flow from our eyes, I fall apart, put back together at the same time... I never thought that this hope would end, (The way the light touched your face, curves around the shade and bends). Floating in sliver dusk, glimmering, (The night chokes my neck, yet I pray the mourning won't begin). My captured heart laying by your side, (Trying to beat strong enough for both of our lives,) To breathe in this twilight dusk and night. The stars are all crumbling the silence entwines. Vision and sound combine in our minds. You're breathing faster as though with a ghost, I am pacing my breath and holding this ghost. This twilight is ending now darkness to night, This night turns to morning these colors combine. I am moving in pieces a mistake of time. Hearts tied together our bodies afraid of our minds. I see you melting of course I drown. Your tears burst my heart and push me to the ground. There is no more time I lose sight and sound, Twilight to dusk, dusk to the ground. I'm holding you close now to scarred to move, The dawn stops my breathing and gives it to you. All the shades of dark in this twilight night, I fall apart, am put back together at the same time. The consolations are crumbling. The night here is crumbling, While fireflies burn in my heart, With a Heat of Heaven. With a Heat of Heaven. The night is all crumbling, The night is all crumbling, The speed of twilight is slow. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go.

about

Quiet Prism began to come to life in the period after touring for The World Is Bright and Lonely ended on the German Autobahn in an accident. Upon returning home Mike Law had five broken bones and a band in limbo. Founding member Stephen Brodsky had already left to again focus on his main band Cave In and all the momentum that had been building on the European tour with sold out shows was erased with the injuries. Around that time Mike had been able to acquire some keyboards and found himself still gravitating to the studio late nights after other sessions ended. Soon songs that started as experimentations like "Iradell" and "They Won't Find Us" began to emerge. Synth based and able to be played by just one hand since the other arm was healing Mike experimented with a Korg Polysix, Juno 106 and drums programed in Reason. Law:
"I remember at one point laying on the floor under the console in a lot of pain because one of my broken ribs had hit against something. I had a microphone in my hand running through a thing called an Effectron. For some reason I started clicking a piece of metal, a bracket or something against the steel frame underneath the Harrison console and it made this fantastic sound. That led to They Won't Find Us. Though it was frustrating some cool songs came out if the accident. The 2011 lineup of NIS came up with a great version of "They Won't Find Us" and and we played 'Twilight Dusk and Night" a few different ways. This is a cool EP, it's often my favorite NIS release."
The songs felt a bit separate from what the full band began to formulate for Somehow Disappearing so it was decided Quiet Prism would be a good stand alone release before the full length album came out.
